Bienvenidos a todos! (For those of you who don't speak Spanish, that means "Welcome everyone!" )
My name is Stephanie Stroud and I'm the RA for the second floor on the south side! I'm a "super senior" this year which means that this will be my fifth and final year at good ole SVU. I started here in Fall 2008 and took a little break a few years later to serve a mission. I served in the Utah, Salt Lake City South Mission, Spanish speaking. I laughed, I cried. I mostly cried... Haha, just kidding. Well, sort of. ;) Happy tears, sad tears, tears of pure joy, and exhaustion. That was one amazingly crazy beautiful ride! I'm truly grateful for the opportunity I had to do that and wouldn't trade that experience for anything!
Ironically enough, college is kind of like that too. You have your ups and your downs, but it's those moments when you have late night talks with some of the best friends you've made from school, random trips to get ice cream just because, and having dance parties to get some blood circulating to your brain after you've studied for hours on end (yes, I've done them all) ...those moments make all of the not-so-happy moments all worth it. There's a phrase in Spanish that says "Vale la pena." It literally translates to: It's worth the pain. The first few weeks of school may be a little bit difficult trying to adjust, but just hang in there. It gets better, I promise. Until then, feel free to come see me and we can try what I like to call, Chocolate Therapy. :)
As you can probably tell, I love Spanish. The music, the culture, the food, the language, the people. I fell in love with it long before my mission, but came to love it even more on my mission. I also enjoy photography, running, Harry Potter, watching videos of my cute little nephew, going to church, spending time with the people I love, and the list goes on. Throughout the school year you'll get to know me better, and I hope to get to know you better too!
Until we see each other in person,
Peace out! Deuces! Hasta Luego!
Love Steph
